Getting ready in the Hotel:

If your wedding day preparations are to take place in a hotel and you have multiple rooms for the bridal party, ensure that all rooms are on the same level. Be sure to ask for more than two keys for each room to avoid headaches like this:
Recently, Radiant bride wedding video & photography shot a wedding where a groom who couldn't go from 44th floor to 38th floor to where the groomsmen were, and he had to trump all the way down the reception to get another key card. Of course there’s no room for ID in a tux, but thankfully the receptionist called the Bridal suite and verified that this guy was indeed the "Groom" and not an imposter ;)

Getting ready at Home:

Many brides choose a more intimate setting when preparing for their wedding day. While getting ready at home with family can be relaxing and fun, it can get a little tight with the Radiant bride wedding video & photography crew in there too. Here are some tips for optimizing the shooting of your pre-ceremony shots:
- Make sure the area that is going to be used for your makeup and preparation has plenty of natural light and that you are sitting facing the light.
- The room is tidy and clutter free.
- Minimize or eliminate television and radio noise.
- Keep small children and pets safe from camera equipment and working crew.
- Make sure that you are in the center of the room and there is room for the crew to maneuver around you to capture your best angles!

The Ceremony:

When planning for your wedding ceremony, please keep your humble camera crew in mind. Our main concerns include the light of the rooms, the size of the space and how freely we can change angles. Also take into consideration the echo in the room and the bravado of the people who are conducting the ceremony and giving speeches. If you are having a beach wedding, consider how loud the waves are at your beach of choice and how the lighting will be at the time of your ceremony – you don’t want to be squinting into the sun!
In order to get the best sound and vision of your wedding ceremony, we use wireless microphones and camera lights where required. It is important that you speak to the person who is in charge of your ceremony about this. We have had situations where the Priest/ Minister/ Celebrant/ Rabbi/ Mullah does not allow lights nor flashes on the cameras. Sometimes the frequencies of our radio microphones have clashed with their systems. Be sure to introduce us to your Priest/ Minister/ Celebrant/ Rabbi/ Mullah to us so we can take care of these important issues before the wedding day. Which brings us to…

Choosing a Celebrant/ Priest/ Rabbi/ Mullah:

The strange truth is that the occasional Priest / Minister / Celebrant / Rabbi / Mullah takes a dislike to photographers & videographer, don't ask me why! We at Radiant bride wedding video & photography are experienced in working with and around these people but here are a few tips on what you can do to prevent any problems. When you first meet them, ask the person conducting your ceremony how they feel about:
- Camera lights (if necessary)
- Flash Photography (if necessary)
- Wearing a small wireless Microphone
- Allowing camera crew to move around during the ceremony
- Allowing Camera Crew to set up an un-manned camera at the back of the room ...
Most of the time their attitude will be positive, but if you get a negative vibe, it’s a good idea to shop around! If you are stuck, let us know about their hesitations ahead of time so we can accommodate their concerns.

The Reception:

The absolute, number one most important thing to consider when searching for a wedding reception venue that will look good in photos: the lighting!
There is nothing worse than a dark reception room. Except for maybe a room made of windows – this is less than ideal for camera operators because of the backlighting problem.
Here are some tips:
- Make sure the reception manager knows that you want the lights on most of the night except for during the dances.
- If your wedding is during the day in summer when the sun does not set until 7- 8 Pm, make sure you are not sitting with your back to any windows.
- Consider where your speeches will take place. Be sure the lectern is not set up in front of the fire exit where a large green exit sign will be glowing right behind the speaker’s head...
- Make sure there is a "crew table" for the wedding photographers, videographers, MC, DJ and any other crew that you might have, and keep us close! We need to be in the action to capture any unplanned special moments that might occur.
Seating arrangement: If you chose to have the bridal party on a round or oval shape table, please remember, that will make it hard for us to video or photograph the bride and groom, due to always having someone’s back to the camera. During the wedding speeches (When everyone is talking about the bride & groom) its better to move a few members of the bridal party away, so we have a clear shot of the bride and groom, so hopefully we can catch a few tears or laughs.

Wedding Music for the film:

It is best to supply the music to Radiant bride wedding video & photography as soon as you can, preferably before the wedding so we can get an idea of your vibe and how to match the vision to the music. Because the film is edited to the beat of the music, we can’t begin post-production until we have your tunes.
When selecting the music that is going to be used in your wedding video, consider how it will sound the thousandth time you play it. Try to select truly timeless pieces with a variety of tempos. We ask you give us as many songs as you can, with a minimum of 5-6, so we can find the best fit for the vision of your wedding day. If you would like particular songs to be used in certain sections of the film, please let us know before we start the first edit!

Your Wedding Dress:

No matter how spectacular your wedding dress may look, make sure you can move comfortably in it! There is nothing glamorous about a bride who walks like a robot. Make sure the dress does not catch under your shoes as you move forward. General rule of thumb is: the easier you move while in your dress, the less tired you will get and the better the wedding video & photos will turn out!

Your Wedding Shoes:

Remember that the more comfortably you can walk and even run, the better you will look in the film and photos. If you are having a beach wedding or just going for a post-ceremony walk in the sand, be prepared to take your shoes off or have a sandal or something more comfortable handy – and don’t forget to check how your alternative footwear works with your wedding outfits before the day!

Your Wedding Flowers:

No matter how lovely they smell, the only thing Radiant bride wedding video & photography is worried about is how pretty they look. The colour of your bouquet should have some contrast to your dress in order to stand out in pictures – this is especially true for black and white wedding images. If you use only white flowers and your dress is white as well, there won’t be enough contrast to work with.

Wedding Timetable:

Plan, plan, plan and then plan some more! No matter how much you like chaos, this is one occasion when it is wise to over-plan. Plan with as much detail as possible and write down every single detail that you can think of.
Once you have a timetable for your day, share it with everyone involved. Try not to squeeze too much into your wedding day and give yourself extra time for traveling from one location to another. Make sure you have email and phone numbers of the limo, DJ, photographer, videographer, MC, the venue and anyone else involved in your schedule. Be sure to email your timetable to all of your wedding suppliers – including Radiant bride wedding video & photography!
